The HDCD program prepares students to work with young children (birth to five years) and their families as developmental specialists in early childhood intervention programs (ECI), parent education, special needs preschools, and other professional settings. The search committee will consider outstanding applicants who can teach core courses in the HDCD program, such as Assessment Theory, Developmental Assessment, Atypical Development, Infant Mental Health and/or Intervention with Young Children. Successful applicants should also be able to effectively mentor and engage master’s students in reflective supervision of their practicum and internship experiences. Instructional faculty positions are full-time, non-tenure-track 9-month positions. Appointments are renewed annually. In addition to teaching courses, Instructional Faculty in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences serve on program committees, participate in student development activities, and perform administrative duties as appropriate based on program or School demands. Instructional faculty are also actively engaged in and visible in School and program events and activities. Teaching loads and other duties of Instructional faculty are assigned based on needs determined by the Department and Program Heads, in consultation with the Associate Deans, but typically involve teaching four classes (practicum/internship supervision counts as a class) in fall and spring semesters, with opportunities for additional teaching during summer semester for additional compensation.
