The University of British Columbia invites applications for several Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows (PDTFs), to begin 1 July 2010. These positions enable innovative and collaborative teaching between PDTFs and outstanding UBC professors. The program will help to launch the careers of new scholars showing early promise as excellent university teachers and researchers, and each PDTF will have opportunities to interact with UBC colleagues on teaching and research. Two of the new PDTF positions have been allocated to the UBC Department of Psychology. Applications from outstanding applicants in behavioural neuroscience, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology or personality are welcome. Successful applicants will teach one or more courses in their area of specialization plus another course, most likely introductory psychology. PDTFs will be appointed for one year, beginning 1 July 2010, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, subject to Department approval and budgetary availability. Applicants will normally be within 3 years of receiving the PhD. PDTFs will teach three single-semester undergraduate courses or sections per year under the supervision of an experienced professor. All positions are subject to final budgetary approval. Applicants should submit a letter of application, a statement of teaching philosophy and interests, evidence of teaching potential, a sample of written work, and a CV to Dr. Boris Gorzalka, whose contact information is contained in the attachment that can be downloaded from this website.
