The School of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for two tenure track positions beginning August, 2023. One position is designated at the rank of Assistant Professor and the other is designated at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We are seeking individuals interested in contributing to scholarly research, teaching and clinical supervision. For those applying at the Associate level, we are seeking someone with potential for program leadership (Training Director for our APA accredited School Psychology doctoral program) in the future. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic scientist-practitioner, behavioral school psychology training program which is APA accredited and NASP-approved, and has a course sequence approved by the Behavioral Analysis Certification Board (BACB). The School Psychology program emphasizes research mentorship, diversity, and training in evidence-based practices. Research and applied interests are open but should be consistent with a behavioral school psychology approach and contribute to the program emphasis on DEI. Our faculty have established records of scholarship in behavioral consultation, prevention of emotional and behavioral disorders in preschool children, behavioral assessment and intervention in multi-tiered systems of support, academic assessment and intervention, applied behavior analysis in traditional school settings, and behavioral parent training. Additionally, our faculty have several ongoing, grant-funding research projects being conducted with several schools and clinics within our community. Doctoral students provide psychological services through the Center for Behavioral Health (CBH), which is an integrated in-house training clinic staffed by students and faculty from the School, Counseling, and Clinical psychology training programs. The CBH serves a diverse clientele including assessment and treatment for community clients. The clinic permits close supervision of school psychologists-in-training by program faculty; we hope to recruit applicants with interest in and ability to provide clinical supervision of practicum students in our in-house training clinic and at school-based practicum sites, as well as mentor graduate student research. The School Psychology program is one of four doctoral programs in the School of Psychology. The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Counseling, Clinical, & School), a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology and a MPCAC Accredited Master’s program in Counseling Psychology. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the teaching mission of the School of Psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Opportunities to obtain post-doctoral supervision during the licensure process (including mentorship, professional development) and/or to conduct and collaborate on research are available. More information can be found at www.usm.edu/psychology . Hattiesburg is located approximately 70 miles north of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and 100 miles from New Orleans and is a great place to live. Hattiesburg offers a unique blend of high standard of living at reasonable costs. In fact, in 2014, Hattiesburg was recognized by Livability.com as one of the nation’s top 10 college towns.
