The Department of Psychology in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences at Baruch College, a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Social Psychology to begin August 2023. This is one of several hires the Department is conducting this year to expand research and teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in research methods and/or statistics. Other courses will depend on the needs of the department and the candidate’s area of expertise. The candidate should be engaged in a productive program of research with the potential for top-tier publications and external funding and will be invited to participate in the doctoral program in the Basic and Applied Social Psychology(BASP) area at CUNY’s Graduate Center where they would have the opportunity to teach and mentor doctoral students. The Department of Psychology houses undergraduate programs in General Psychology (BA) and Industrial-Organizational (IO) psychology (BBA), and terminal master’s programs in Mental Health Counseling (MMHC) and IO psychology (MSIO). Several members of the faculty are also members of the doctoral faculty of training areas (including BASP) at CUNY’s Graduate Center, the Ph.D. degree conferring institution within CUNY. Baruch College is ideally situated in the historic Gramercy Park district of Manhattan, offering easy access to New York’s world-class cultural attractions. QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will have earned a doctorate in social psychology by August 25, 2023. We require evidence of the ability to teach successfully, engage in high-quality scholarship, and cooperate with others for the good of the institution, as well as work effectively with a diverse community. COMPENSATION CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.
