Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology Duquesne University: McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts: Psychology Department Pittsburgh, PA Open Date Jan 25, 2022 The Department of Psychology in the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts at Duquesne University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, to span the 2022-2023 academic year, beginning fall 2022. The successful candidate will join 9 other full-time departmental faculty. The department offers an APA-accredited Ph.D. program in clinical psychology with an existential- humanistic orientation, and a robust undergraduate major. Committed to the articulation of psychology as a human science, our faculty affirms the importance of a philosophically informed perspective on psychological theory, research and clinical practice. We practice psychology in a way that is sensitive to the assumptions that underlie any effort to understand human beings, and to the historical, cultural, relational, and embodied character of all human thought and activity. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology or a Psy.D., and be licensed or license-eligible in the state of PA. The VAP will teach courses in our undergraduate program and provide clinical supervision to several of our doctoral students, who receive psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and community engagement training and experience through our in-house clinic. The VAP will also assist with the scheduling and oversight of our Psychology Department Colloquium. Additionally, the candidate will have opportunities to engage in graduate and undergraduate research and mentorship. Some funding is available for travel to present scholarship at conferences and other venues. We are especially interested in candidates who would enjoy and be qualified for teaching courses in Developmental, Social, and/or Forensic Psychology. However, we encourage interested candidates to apply regardless of area of specialization. We particularly seek applications from candidates whose research, teaching, and/or service has prepared them to contribute to our mission of considering human psychology in social and cultural context, and to our ongoing work toward diversity and inclusion in higher education. As a condition of employment, Duquesne University requires all new employees —full-time and part-time, including adjunct faculty—to get a COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of their vaccination upon commencement of employment. New employees requesting a religious or documented medical exemption from the vaccine must complete and submit a Duquesne University exemption request form for review and approval. To receive the appropriate exemption request form, contact hrservices@duq.edu. Employees with approved exemptions will be required to be tested on a regular basis. Application Instructions Applications should be submitted through Interfolio and should include a CV, letter of intent, teaching statement of approximately two pages which also discusses approach to clinical supervision, and contact information for three professional references. Applications received before February 14, 2022 will receive first consideration. Visa sponsorship is not available for this particular position.
