The Department of Psychological Sciences at Rice University (Houston, Texas) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in psychology to begin July 1, 2022. The successful candidate will join the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Research Interest Group (RIG), an interdisciplinary group of faculty who study cognition and emotion and their immunological, psychophysiological, and neural correlates. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to capitalize on the resources, patient populations, and cross-disciplinary opportunities associated with Rice’s proximity to the Texas Medical Center. Candidates with research interests that complement and bridge those of area faculty (e.g., language, memory, emotion, emotion regulation, aging, neuroplasticity, health psychology/behavioral medicine, psychoneuroimmunology) are especially encouraged to apply. Research interests that span other areas of the Department of Psychological Sciences and other university-wide initiatives are also of interest. The Department of Psychological Sciences trains doctoral students in cognitive and affective neuroscience, health psychology, human-computer interaction and human factors, and industrial-organizational psychology. Rice has launched several University-wide initiatives in recent years that provide a rich interdisciplinary intellectual environment for the successful candidate, including the Neuroengineering Initiative (https://neuroengineering.rice.edu), the Data Science Initiative (https://datascience.rice.edu), and BRIDGE (Building Research on Inequality and Diversity to Grow Equity, https://bridge.rice.edu). The position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, human development, cognitive science). Faculty are expected to develop a productive research program; secure external funding; teach courses that contribute to the undergraduate psychology program and the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience graduate program, the Cognitive Science major, the Neuroscience interdisciplinary undergraduate majors, and/or the Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine graduate program; mentor graduate and undergraduate students; and provide service to the field and the department.
