Associate or Full Professor – Counseling Psychology. The Department of Psychological, Health, & Learning Sciences at the University of Houston seeks scholars for a tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment at the academic rank of Associate or Full Professor. This position will be housed in our Ph.D. program in Counseling Psychology, which has been continuously APA-accredited since 1987. It is expected that the selected candidate will serve as the training director for the Counseling Psychology doctoral program. The Department currently limits training director terms to not exceed 3 consecutive years, after which time the hired scholar would cycle off of that leadership role and remain a faculty member with a Counseling Psychology program affiliation. Area of research focus is open. We seek a scholar with an active and productive program of research with current external funding or the strong promise of obtaining external funding. Responsibilities include conducting innovative research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; securing external funding to support an interdisciplinary program of research; rigorous teaching of doctoral courses; mentoring doctoral students; chairing and serving on doctoral committees; presenting research at professional meetings; serving as the training director for our APA-accredited doctoral program in Counseling Psychology (time-limited); and service to the Department, College, University, community, and profession. This is a nine-month appointment. Review of candidates will begin soon and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2020. Qualifications: Applicants for this position must hold a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience serving as a training director in an APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program. Applicants should be licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state of Texas. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of innovative research published in peer-reviewed journals, a sustained record or potential of external funding, evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.
