The School of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for two, full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor positions beginning August 2020. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic scientist-practitioner, school psychology training program in the School of Psychology, including an APA-accredited and NASP-approved doctoral training program that has a course sequence approved by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB), and an undergraduate psychology major. The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Counseling, Clinical, & School). The School Psychology program emphasizes research mentorship, diversity, and training in evidence-based practices. Research and applied interests are open but should be consistent with a behavioral school psychology approach. Our faculty have established records of scholarship in behavioral consultation, prevention of emotional and behavioral disorders in preschool children, behavioral assessment in multi-tiered systems of support, applied behavior analysis in traditional school settings, and ADHD. Doctoral students provide psychological services through an in-house training clinic, including assessment and treatment for community clients. The clinic permits close supervision of school psychologists-in-training by program faculty; we hope to recruit applicants with interest in and ability to provide clinical supervision of practicum students in our in-house training clinic, as well as mentor graduate student research. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the teaching mission of the School of Psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Opportunities to obtain post-doctoral supervision towards licensure (which includes mentorship, professional development) and/or to conduct and collaborate on research are available. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a strong program of research; seeking extramural funding; teaching a combination of undergraduate and graduate classes, including supervision of graduate level practicum courses in our in-house training clinic; and contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities. Applicants are expected to seek licensure in the state of Mississippi. Qualifications include: a doctoral degree in from an APA-accredited program in school psychology (by August 2020) and completion of an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship. License- eligible in the state of Mississippi. Applications will be reviewed beginning September 15 and continue until the position is filled. Please feel free to contact Dr. Brad Dufrene to inquire about the position (brad.dufrene@usm.edu). A completed application will include 1) a cover letter, 2) a CV, 3) three letters of recommendation, 4) academic transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable; official transcripts are necessary for hire), and 5) up to three representative manuscript reprints. Application materials can be uploaded to the HR site found here: https://jobs.usm.edu. The program is committed to increasing diversity. We encourage applications from those who identify as diverse in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, and/or sexual orientation AA/EEO/ADAI.
