Description: The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for the Endowed Chair in Social-Emotional Learning to begin August 2020. Applicants must be at the Associate or Full Professor rank, demonstrate a clear program of research, robust publication record, interest in collaboration across disciplines, and a strong track record in obtaining external funding. A central qualification is that the candidate has substantial experience conducting studies that focus on promoting Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and related positive outcomes. Preference is for research that is primarily conducted in school settings (broadly defined birth through post-secondary) although afterschool and community-based prevention and promotion efforts are welcomed. Research that targets underserved populations or addresses the need for cultural adaptations of evidence-based programs would also be compelling.
